About SOC Analyst Career Path

I have an issue here as a beginner, going through the modules under the lesson title like the Log review, I see the given time for some Modules which comprises of two lessons which is just for a like an hour. But reading this will take me for like a full day or two to understand. Is the time for each module compulsory for me to follow up?

Take all the time you need to read and understand the material. No-one is expected to learn anything in any set amount of time. The time estimate is a rough guess for how long the average person may take to read through a given lesson/course or do a given lab. However, you should move at the speed of you. I would also plan to do the labs more than a few times. The first time you just get the basic flow of the steps. The second time you start to build muscle memory. The third time the concepts will sink in a bit more as you are no longer lost or just trying to get the steps right.

Thank you so much Joseph for your quick understanding of my question, people like you gives hope. One more question pls, I applied for the System Analyst where you will know more about Defensive security as a beginner. I chose the SOC analyst part but I have been seeing some skill path which are the Cybersecurity fundamental, Network fundamental, OS fundamental and Scripting and Programming fundamental which includes the Cybersecurity fundamentals that have Defensive security modules, Offensive security modules, Engineer & Operation modules and Governance, Risk and Compliance Module which are just the basics of each of the other career paths like Penetration tester and Security Engineer. Each modules are not more than one hour though.

Or let me ask, for you to have a career path you must have basics knowledge of all the Skill paths which are the fundamentals I mentioned above?

You can feel fee to take on the SOC path, but if you find it difficult, then I would go back and do IT and Cybersecurity Foundations first. The SOC will still be challenging, but you will have the understanding and vocabulary needed for the SOC path.

Yes, I get but sorry, I’m on the IT and Cybersecurity Foundation which is for the Beginner. So the question I have been asking since is in the screenshot I sent which is that, am I going to have a basic knowledge in all the modules by reading it in depth or I should just read it like glancing through as the stipulated time given?

If the material is new to you and you want to master it, I would definitely read it in depth rather than glancing through. The stipulated time is a very general estimate that broadly applies from beginners to experts and should not be taken as a recommendation for how long you should take studying the material. Ultimately you will be the best judge of that
