HiveNightmare excersise

I’m unable to do the lab because the files aren’t located in the folders specified in the excercise. Is there anyone else experiencing this issue? It wants me to grab the hivenightmare file but it isn’t there.

What’s happening here is that Windows is detecting the SharpKatz.exe file as malware and automatically deleting it within a few moments of logging on. It looks like this is something the original lab authors accounted for, and most of the Windows security features are turned off, but this lab is a few years old, and it seems like something has changed since then.

The bigger problem is this is an older lab that was developed on a third-party vendor platform, and we don’t have the ability to go in and modify the lab environment to prevent this from happening.

We’re probably going to have to retire this course for the time being, as the lab is effectively broken. That said, we will be rebuilding many of the labs currently hosted by third parties on our own platform in the next few months, so we may have a new version soon enough.

Apologies for the inconvenience! Feel free to review the rest of the course content in the meantime. For what it’s worth, it doesn’t look like completing the lab steps are actually necessary to answer the questions in the Tasks pane and complete the course.
