Lab instructions are causing a database failure to restart after trying to restart DB

I am working through the CISSP training and on lab (Secure Data and Transmission ) 1.2 - step 32 after entering the requested edits to the database .conf file the DB is failing to start and is stopping my progress in the training. I cannot move forward

Could you please provide a screenshot showing your edits to the MariaDB configuration file?

This is the instructed command to do

This is the edited file

This is the error that is being received

Thanks - I’ll re-run the full lab steps this afternoon to see if I can reproduce.

Thank you. I could really used this to be resolved asap. Trying to get through this for my CEUs for my CASP+

So far it’s worked fine in all of our testing, so I would recommend re-running the lab from the beginning to see if it repeats itself.

Sir,
I am a professional of 17 years in IT. I have run the lab 6 times and every result has been the same. At the same spot it fails.
Once you add the edit to the DB .cnf file and try to restart the DB it fails

Thanks, we’ll let you know if we’re able to reproduce.

Sorry for the frustration @trock0123 … I just ran through the lab and it works as written. Here is a screen shot of the steps I took in my lab session:

Can you share the same? I know that if there is any issue running the openssl commands or if the keyfile is wrong ( missing 1; ), or if the key permissions are wrong then mysql encryption will fail and the db will not start.

Oh I see something. You placed a semicolon right after the “1” you placed in the key file.
Cyphers don’t usually have any special characters in them. That’s pretty unusual

Confirmed the same - mariadb restarted without any issue following the lab steps as written.
