Hello. I have recently been in the interest of pen testing and ethical hacking. I am currently enrolled in the Penetration Tester career path. But after exploring around the different learning courses I came across the Penetration Testing & Ethical Hacking cert prep. It seems like this route is more in depth then the career path of pen testing. Could anyone just help me out so i dont choose the wrong path.
Thanks
Frans
Excellent question!
The Pentest+ Cert Prep is a course, a series of select practice labs, and then access to a test engine all to prepare for the CompTIA Pentest + certification.
This is a perfectly fine way to learn about pentesting and to prep for the Pentest+ exam if you want this. Some of the labs featured in the Pentest+ Cert Prep are also found in the Pentest Career Path, and your lab progress will port over to that career path should you want to do that next.
Pentest+ Cert Prep is the CompTIA way to learn pentesting.
The Penetration Tester Career Path is Cybrary’s own proprietary way to teach pentesting. This path is not aligned with any other vendor or certification. I would say the Penetration Tester Career Path is harder than the Pentest+ Cert Prep and assumes more from the learner.
If you know nothing (or little) about penetration testing, then the Pentest+ is a better place to start.
Similarly, Penetration Testing & Ethical Hacking is a Cert Prep Path - aligned to EC Council’s Certified Ethical Hacker certification.
