hi all. just starting my journey in cyber security/Cybrary. no clue of what im getting into and as green as it gets to this area. I’m just looking to do some part time work outside of my other job which is psychiatric nursing so its a huge change. so any help, direction around what path to take which would most flexible with a few hours a week work would be a great help.
thanks in advance

Hey Shane - welcome!
As long as you have some familiarity with basic IT concepts and terms, the best place to start is the IT & Cybersecurity Foundations Career Path - Cybrary
This path broadly covers Operating Systems, Networking, Cybersecurity, and some Programming and Scripting.
But if you think that you are in fact completely green and need to review additional IT fundamentals first, I would instead start with the Tech+ Cert Prep Path - Cybrary
From there, I would refer to the following roadmap:
Phase 1 - Beginner
Cert Prep Path: CompTIA Tech+
Career Path: IT & Cybersecurity Foundations
Cert Prep Paths: CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+; Cisco CCNA
Phase 2 - Intermediate
Career Path: SOC Analyst
Cert Prep Paths: CompTIA CySA+, CertNexus CyberSec First Responder
and/or
Career Path: Penetration Tester
Cert Prep Paths: CompTIA PenTest+, Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking
and/or
Career Path: Security Engineer
Cert Prep Paths: ISC2 SSCP and CCSP; AWS and Azure certifications
and/or
Career Path: GRC Analyst (forthcoming)
Cert Prep Paths: ISACA CISA, CRISC, CISM
and
Career Path: Leadership and Management
Phase 3 - Advanced
Skill Paths: Digital Forensics, Incident Response (forthcoming)
Cert Prep Paths: ISC2 CISSP, CompTIA SecurityX

hi CalmQuail,
I have a question to ask , I am IT professional with 3 years hands on IT support. I have my persoanl labs , certs A+ COMPTIA NET + ,AZURE 900.
Recently got job as a SOC Analyst and i wan to learn quick to meet up with demands. how do i go about this?
I am new here, any advice
Hey there - if you’re starting a new job as a SOC Analyst, my recommendation would be to complete the SOC Analyst Career Path.
There is also an Incident Response Skill Path that will launch in March. Tons of detail and hands on work as you triage and document a realistic incident that took place in 2025.
Thank you,
I do appreciate
