OSINT 1.3 Challenge Exercise

Hi Everyone!

I am having a challenge determining the correct Island for the Image in question. When I followed the question correctly and got the GPS position, however, when I placed the coordinates in Google Maps, I got the name of the Island but the digits are different from the hint in the question.

I was eventually able to solve it using a different bash command for exiftool, which gave a different GPS Position. The initial one was misleading.

im having same troubles, the coordinates take me to bahamas small island, but the names dont match what is required. what command did you use ?
thx

The exiftool answer # 3 – the answer no longer exists on Google maps!

Hi, I actually want to bring it to Cybrary’s attention, that the island coordinates lead to an island that was removed from Google Maps because it was placed there as a joke. So the answer to this is no longer on Google Maps. After about 45 minutes of pulling my hair out, I finally asked Copilot if anybody else in Cybrary was having this problem–and it explained that to me. Then I cross checked and sure enough, Google told me it had in fact removed that island from Google Maps because it was placed there as a meme joke by a YouTuber.

I don’t want to put the answer here in case it is against some rule, but am new to this forum. If Cybrary doesn’t respond on here, then maybe I can enter a support case somewhere. If you know how to alert or add class personnel to this, let me know–but this needs fixed. Learning is hard enough without searching for a ghost island that no longer exists :stuck_out_tongue:

Update: I sent an email to Cybrary support – hope it gets through to them.
