I’ve been through the Registry Analysis lab 2X and don’t agree with the answer in the tasks (question 2). I made sure that I was examining a clean hive and after searching for the shutdown entry - I get the same answer every time. I feel confident that I am being marked incorrectly for the answer I’m giving. This is preventing me from completing this lab. Thanks for any help or suggestions you can offer.
Hey there - it looks like you’re working in an old version of the Registry Analysis lab. The latest version (Cybrary) was released in August and replaced the earlier one.
While the old version of the lab is technically no longer supported, it should still work. I’ll run through it to see if I get a different answer for Task 2.
Okay, so we don’t ordinarily post answers here, but since this lab is retired I can make an exception.
This is the answer we’re looking for:
Thank you for your quick (and informative) response. Everything in the lab was working perfectly (except the part where you searched for “shutdown time” and found out the time given is marked incorrectly in the lab.
Going forward, is there a way that I can avoid taking an old lab that has since been modified, updated (replaced) with a newer version. It seems that my labs are automatically chosen for me. In any event, that you for the great support and quick response. (5 stars!)
Happy New Year,
stan
I meant to type “thank you for the great support and quick response”.
Glad to hear it!
Regarding your statement “my labs are automatically chosen for you” - is this in reference to the Recommendations page? Or are you on a Team where goals are being set for you? Or is this lab still floating around in a Collection that we forgot to update with the new one?
I’m not sure how the process works - I just chose to study Security + Certification (picked as one of my goals) and I am automatically presented with topics of study, walk thru labs and a challenge lab. After I click on complete - a new topic is presented. So I’m going to venture to guess that the old lab has simply not been replaced with the new updated lab. (which worked fine btw).

Ah, okay - so that’s one we need to update. Thanks for letting us know.
Fwiw the intention is that if you’re working on the Security+ cert prep, you’ll want to work through the video courses in the Learn section, then choose any of the labs in the Practice section that you wish to get some additional hands-on practice with. You don’t necessarily have to complete them in order, or complete all of them (we recommend choosing 5 to supplement the video courses). The Prove section contains a Practice Test that you can use to simulate the exam.
