Unacceptable Cooldown Reset Wasted Time and Disrespectful UX

I am extremely frustrated and honestly disappointed with this experience.

I hit the free daily lesson limit while actively answering a guided exercise, not idling. I respected the system, waited the entire cooldown period shown, and returned exactly as instructed to resume my work. When I refreshed the page, with only a few minutes remaining the platform reset my cooldown to another 8+ hours. That is unacceptable. This is not a “learning limitation”; it is a punitive and poorly designed system that wastes users’ time and breaks study momentum. Refreshing a page should never restart a completed cooldown. That behavior feels manipulative, disrespectful, and intentionally frustrating for free users. I carefully planned my study time, and your platform invalidated it in seconds. Time is valuable, and this experience made it clear that Cybrary does not respect that. If this is intentional, it’s a terrible user experience. If it’s a bug, it’s a serious one that needs immediate fixing. Either way, this interaction left me angry, discouraged, and questioning whether this platform actually supports learners or simply pressures them through frustration.

I expect this issue to be acknowledged and addressed.

I’m sorry you find the daily lesson limit frustrating, but the Free user license is intended strictly as a demo - not a fully featured learning experience. Like any demo, it is only designed to serve as a preview of the product.

We strive to develop best-in-class cybersecurity training pathways, but in order to do that, we need to operate as a business - if we simply gave the full catalog away for free, we would be offline in a matter of months

Also worth noting that the daily lesson limit runs on a rolling basis. So if you complete 5 lessons at 10:00 AM and then 5 more around 11:00 AM, you will get 5 free lessons at 10:00 AM the next day, and then 5 more at 11:00 AM.

I’ll also add that if you run multiple browser tabs simultaneously and complete multiple lessons in different tabs, this can confuse the tracker and result in unexpected behavior in the reset timer.
